OVERVIEW

Have you been curious about what it means to be a cyber security expert or what Cyber security experts do?
What are the first steps to getting into the cyber security industry.

There are may definitions for cyber security but simply put – cyber security encompasses using technologies,
processes, and practices to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from attack, damage and
unauthorized access.

The core competencies required to perform any of these roles will be covered in this course.

The cyber security course is a 4-week instructor-led online course targeted at individuals who want to
progress their career in cyber security . The modules will be delivered over 4 Saturdays, with assignments
provided to be completed during the week before the following week’s session.

A help-line will also be provided during specific hours through out the period of the course.

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Like all of our courses, this cyber security course is designed specifically to get you in to a cyber security role
as quickly as possible. In the ever-changing world of technology, you never stop learning, so the intention is
not for you to learn everything, but to learn enough to prepare you for a cyber security role.

At teqsus, our principle is to teach you the core essentials to break into a specific field or brush up your skills,
and help you find or change jobs as the case may be. Our instructors are all industry experts with many years
of experience, and who are still actively in business.

All modules are designed to be interactive.

Understand the role and competencies of a cyber security Analyst

Core skills required – network security, Data security, Cloud security and Identity management.

Understanding cyber security threat management – Threat identification, threat analysis, threat protection and threat
response

Understanding real world cyber security challenges – Build trust and credibility when creating cyber security
requirements, security test cases, and cyber security plans.

Practical exercises – Real and/or simulated projects

CV writing – adapting existing experience and skills, and presenting it appropriately

Interview Preparation – What employers really want to hear.

  • Introduction to Cybersecurity
  • Information Security: Principles of information security, including confidentiality, integrity, availability, and non-repudiation.
  • Network Security: The basics of network security, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and virtual private networks.
  • Web Security: The basics of web security, including web application vulnerabilities, cross-site scripting, SQL injection, and cross-site request forgery.
  • Cryptography: Include encryption, decryption, digital signatures, and hash functions.
  • Mobile Security: Mobile device vulnerabilities, mobile malware, and mobile security best practices.
  • Incident Response: Incident detection, incident containment, and incident recovery.
  • Risk Management: Risk identification, risk assessment, risk mitigation, and risk monitoring.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Various compliance and regulatory requirements that organisations must comply with, including GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
  • Ethics and Legal Issues: Ethical and legal issues related to cybersecurity, including hacking, privacy, and intellectual property.
